Clamping Knob with Full Flat Clamping Surface
Five flute star clamping knob with full flat clamping surface in choice of colors. Knobs measure 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch height. 2-7/8 overall height with included bolt. Bolt protrudes 1-1/8 inch from clamping surface when installed.
These knobs have full flat contact or clamping surface for maximum hold. This is good where the workpiece or component you are clamping to is softer, such as wood, to reduce the chances of overtightening and damaging the clamping surface of the workpiece. This is not always ideal as it can make it hard to loosen once tightened. Most clamping knobs have a smaller raised clamping surface and the knob is larger to give more torque to loosen off and or tighten on the contact face. Our JTLC-20012 knob has a 1 inch raised clamping surface.
Considered male threaded knob because they includes 1/4"-20 x 1-1/2" bolt unless you choose to not include it. Installed the the bolt protrudes about a little over an inch. These knobs are fitted perfectly to these bolts, if you want to supply your own size bolt be aware the hex head does not fit all the bolts we have tried in these knobs. Caliper Measurement of the hex flat to flat is approx. 7/16 inch. Point to point of the hex measures approx. 1/2 inch.
These knobs could be used with 1/4-20 nuts instead of bolts if desired to make it a female threaded knob.
